Brian Winn CTO, Signing Online
Brian Winn is the Chief Technology Officer of Signing Online. He has directed the design and engineering of the site and managed the development of the course content, including the digital videography.
Winn has designed, developed, and managed over a dozen interactive media projects since 1994. Among other notable, award-winning projects, Winn was the Lead Programmer and Interface Designer on the second version of the Personal Communicator, a CD developed in the mid-1990s to facilitate communication between deaf students and their hearing classmates in public schools. He was also the Programmer and Site Designer of the American Sign Language Browser, a popular online ASL dictionary, developed at Michigan State University in 1997.
Winn is a professor of Digital Media Art & Technology in the Department of Telecommunication at Michigan State University. He teaches courses in interactive digital media design. Winn is also a Principal Investigation in the Communication Technology Lab at MSU where he works on several grants to research and develop new interactive media experiences.
Winn currently makes the mid-Michigan area his home.
